Today I was starting my normal morning routine… drink a cup of coffee, check Instagram, hop in the shower, then get ready to put on some makeup. I realized, as most of us do, the number one thing for great makeup is a great skincare routine. In my early teenage years and my early twenties (it feels awful to say that), I thought nothing of going to bed with a face full of makeup on, but my skin sure did hate me for it. As I got older, face cleansers, masks, and face lotions became just as important to me as making sure the wing on my eyeliner was perfect. We all have our days where we would love to just crawl into bed without taking the 15 minutes to take off our masterpiece of the day, throw on a mask or lotion, and go to bed with a naked face. It’s so important that we do take the time to care for our skin!
Think about it this way, depending upon where you’re from, what you do for work, etc. All of the pollutants in the air stay on your face and get trapped in your makeup, you don’t wash it off and you’re starting the process of breaking down collagen and prematurely aging your skin. Not to mention irritation, dry patches, uneven skin tone, larger pores, the list goes on and on. Take the 15 minutes at night and you’ll thank me for it.
Now onto the review of these two products that I have been using for a few weeks!
Formula 10.0.6 Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser and the Get Your Glow On Skin-Brightening Peel Mask. I stumbled upon these at my local Ulta Beauty store and figured I would give them a try. They were incredibly affordable, around $7-$8 each. I have combination skin, lately it has been more on the oily side (thank you weather).
The Daily Foaming Cleanser has been amazing! I have tried it following the directions (massaging lightly to damp face and rinsing well with warm water) and with my Clinique Sonic System purifying cleansing brush. I was equally pleased with the results of both. Obviously you are getting a deeper clean with the brush, but either way you use it, the product leaves your skin feeling super clean. Another thing that makes me very happy is the scent is nice and not overpowering, a light passion fruit scent with undertones of green tea and chamomile. If you’re worried about it leaving your skin feeling like it’s tight after washing, you won’t have to with this product. It leaves your skin feeling soft without any traces of oil. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants soft glowing skin.
Now onto the Skin Brightening Peel Mask. I have mixed emotions about this one unfortunately. I followed the directions by applying a thin coating over my face and neck and allowing it to dry (recommended time is 10-15 minutes). After about 5 minutes my eyes were watering because the scent was so overpowering. The scent and contents of this mask are papaya and citrus, which any other time I would love the combination. I powered through and after 20 minutes the mask was ready to peel off. I peeled from the bottom up, no pain at all, the mask came up very easily. I feel as if it just removed the dead skin cells but didn’t unclog any pores. Rinsing the face is the next step which I did and pat the skin dry. No redness thankfully and my skin was super soft (this is why I have mixed emotions about this one)! I would recommend this mask for anyone who enjoys a light peel mask (not those harsh ones we have been seeing all over the internet) and likes the smell of papaya and citrus.
