That took a while…

Hello beautiful ladies and gents!

I have been away for some time now, due to personal family things and my health issues, but everything is going back on track. I have a lot of exciting things planned for the blog and I can’t wait to share everything with you!
Happy Wednesday!!

New NYX Super Cliquey Matte Lipstick — August 11, 2017

New NYX Super Cliquey Matte Lipstick

color- Dangerous (deep burgundy red)

I have recently been on a lipstick kick, which brought me to this new matte lipstick by NYX. I generally wear matte lipsticks, I find them to be easier to wear, long lasting, and the best part of it all – SMUDGE PROOF.

The Super Cliquey lipstick is more of a satin matte lipstick, but the applicator and tube are extremely different than a normal lipstick. The bottom of the tube has a button that you click which dispenses the product to give you the “perfect amount”. The lipstick portion itself is in a teardrop shape designed to hug the lips to help you line and fill in and give a flawless application.

Prior to applying this lipstick I did my normal lip routine – lip scrub to remove any dead skin (I am adamant about applying lip balm throughout the day to keep them moisturized), then Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Extreme-Plump XL, which I left on for 25 minutes then wiped off. I do this because the Sexy Mother Pucker works well for me, it really does plump my lips and leaves them looking very full and moisturized.

I thought the application process was going to be a breeze with this, but sadly, I was wrong. For this I chose not to wear any lip liner because I wanted to give it a fair shot, in the future I will definitely be applying a lip liner with this. I started on the bottom lip to even out the lipstick from packaging so it would be flat when I went into the lining of my lips and the top lip. Even with my lips being moisturized and no dead skin on them the lipstick pulled and was patchy. No worries, I thought to myself, NYX is a great makeup company and their products are usually pretty darn great, this will work out. Once the lipstick was applied to the bottom lip with one coat I started to outline the top, the teardrop shape does give you a lot more control when applying which was a nice surprise, but it’s very easy to over line your lips unevenly with the shape as well. The same thing happened with the top lip, a lot of pulling and uneven coverage. Darker colors tend to have uneven coverage and usually needs a few coats to look opaque. I continued to fill in the rest of my lips the best that I could, and because I love the color so much and the coverage was finally there I took out a lip brush and fixed any flaws that were there. After that I was was super pleased with how the lipstick looked on. It’s also kiss proof to a certain extent too! You could easily get away with kissing someone on the cheek or lips without a transfer, but I don’t recommend a full on make out session or you’ll both have lipstick all over the place. Because it’s a satin matte finish it doesn’t feel too drying and the color didn’t stain my lips (I was slightly worried it would due to it being a deep burgundy color). I also ate some pretty greasy food, carefully of course and drank out of a water bottle and my lipstick still looked fresh!

I would buy this product in other colors, I may have to get used to the application process with this type of shape… I’m used to bullet lipsticks or doe foot applicators. There are currently 12 different shades of the Super Cliquey Matte Lipsticks available in nudes, purples, pinks, and reds.

If you’d like to purchase them you can order them from Ulta Beauty here!

Or you can order them from NYX Cosmetics here!

Please leave a comment and let me know what you would like me to review next!

Thank you beautiful ladies and gents!

Influenster & the Oasis Voxbox — August 7, 2017

Influenster & the Oasis Voxbox

Hello beautiful girls and boys! I’m back!!!

A little over a week ago Influenster, sent me their Oasis Voxbox to review. Influenster is a company who sends members voxboxes (there are all sorts of different boxes you could possibly receive) with the most up to date fashion/food/pet/body/etc. products that you try and review. You can go onto their website, fill out some information based on your preferences, and if you’re chosen you’ll be notified by email that you’re getting a voxbox! It’s actually pretty exciting!

I was beyond thrilled when mine arrived at the door, I practically ripped it out of the mailman’s hand! When you are notified of what box you are getting you are told the name of it, but not the contents, so it just makes it that much more exciting. I also knew I had some awesome products to try out, reviews to do, and really who isn’t excited about getting FREE STUFF!? So, I’m sure you’re all as anxious as I was to see what was in the Oasis Voxbox…. here it is!

For this particular box, you got a little bit of everything!

I received 2 samples of Vera Wang Embrace perfume in Periwinkle & Iris and Rose Buds and Vanilla. Both smell fantastic! For floral perfumes they are not overpowering and they last all day long. Perfect for literally any occasion. They are clean smelling, not too sweet, and have a nice balance of earthy tones in them as well.

The Aloha bar in Peanut Butter and Jelly was tasty and super filling. I had it before I left the house one morning and didn’t have time to make breakfast. It has good for you ingredients so you know what you’re putting into your body and it’s just enough so you feel full and not sluggish after you eat it. I actually went out and bought more of them.

WELCH’S FRUIT ROLLS! Brought me right back to my childhood! I loved loved loved them, I bet you can guess that I went out and bought a box of those too. I love Welch’s gummy snacks (thanks to my 3 year old niece introducing me to them recently) and I knew these would be just as tasty. Just because I’m almost 30 doesn’t meant I can’t have a fruit roll! They are also great to throw in your purse too if you want a snack or if you have little ones!

In the box was a coupon for a free bottle of Evolution Fresh cold pressed juice. I redeemed mine and wasn’t disappointed at all.  The one I chose was Defense Up, made with apple, pineapple, cherry, mango, and oranges. I actually went for that one morning instead of a coffee… which is a pretty huge deal. I bought a few more because they’re really good and super good for you.

One of my favorite products in the box was the Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer. This stuff does some great things to your hair. It’s not oily or greasy, it smells wonderful, my hair dries like 20 minutes faster so it’s one less heat tool I have to use on it! The list can go on! My hair has been shiny, no frizz (it’s been humid as heck here too), my hair feels super soft, and it also protects against any damage that you do to your hair. I’m buying a bigger bottle once I go to CVS or Ulta because this stuff is ABSOLUTELY worth it and I also have a $2.00 off coupon!

The last product I got and I was super impressed with was the Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixer Foundation. This foundation is super lightweight, great coverage, hydrating, and lasts all day long. It’s also packed with vitamins and antioxidants with SPF 20! It traps and holds moisture in all day and manages sebum at the same time so you’re always looking fresh and healthy. The finish is in between a matte/slightly dewy (healthy looking), definitely full coverage, and they have a lot of different shades to choose from. I have worn this several times and I would absolutely purchase this again!

If this sounds like something that you would be interested in signing up for you can click here and fill out information. You may end up getting an awesome voxbox!

*All items were sent to me complimentary by Influenster for reviewing purposes.*

Tarte Lip Treats Lip Sculptor Duo — July 25, 2017

Tarte Lip Treats Lip Sculptor Duo

Last week I decided to check out New Arrivals section on the Ulta Beauty website and I stumbled across the Tarte Lip Treats Lip Sculptor Duo. A lover of Tarte Cosmetics I decided to order them (they were only 12.00usd!!!), and let’s face it, you can never have too many nude lipsticks in your beauty arsenal.

So, what are they? They are limited edition deluxe size version of the of the original Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lip Gloss in existing shades of the larger version. These are great for the girl or boy on the go because they take up less room in your makeup bag or purse and you can wear them together (lipstick and gloss) or either one alone.

The two colors in the duo are VIP, a cool toned nude, and life, a peachy nude. Not only are they SUPER pigmented but they are infused with a bunch of great stuff for your lips! Vitamin E, coconut oil, and maracuja are all packed into these little beauties and they have an amazing vanilla scent.

I Dew Care Berry Bubbly Clay Mask and the cutest headband you’ll ever see — July 21, 2017

I Dew Care Berry Bubbly Clay Mask and the cutest headband you’ll ever see

If you read my previous post you’ll already know I’m a big fan of skin care. While I was shopping at Ulta Beauty I came across the I Dew Care Berry Bubbly Clay Mask by Memebox, a Korean beauty company selling the latest beauty products and trends. I’m a big fan of any kind of mask except for a bubbly mask, the only one I’ve tried in the past left my skin so tight I had to moisturize twice before it felt normal again. I couldn’t let that ONE TIME ruin it for me so I decided to pick it up. While I was still shopping around I happened to stumble across the I Dew Care Brown Bear Headband. I fell in love. It’s the softest headband with the most adorable little teddy bear ears designed to hold your hair back while you’re cleansing your face or applying masks. Okay, so maybe I’m making a big deal about this but come on, it’s freakin’ CUTE.

The mask retails for 19.00usd and you can get the headband sold separately for only 6.00usd.

If you love sparkle, you’ll love Stila’s Magnificent Metals Collection

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit… I am a glitter junkie. When I first saw that Stila had come out with their Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow I had to get my hands on some of the shades. Lets just take a moment and look at these beauties (Kitten Karma and Golden Goddess) up close.

Formula 10.0.6 — July 16, 2017

Formula 10.0.6

Today I was starting my normal morning routine… drink a cup of coffee, check Instagram, hop in the shower, then get ready to put on some makeup. I realized, as most of us do, the number one thing for great makeup is a great skincare routine. In my early teenage years and my early twenties (it feels awful to say that), I thought nothing of going to bed with a face full of makeup on, but my skin sure did hate me for it. As I got older, face cleansers, masks, and face lotions became just as important to me as making sure the wing on my eyeliner was perfect. We all have our days where we would love to just crawl into bed without taking the 15 minutes to take off our masterpiece of the day, throw on a mask or lotion, and go to bed with a naked face. It’s so important that we do take the time to care for our skin!

Think about it this way, depending upon where you’re from, what you do for work, etc. All of the pollutants in the air stay on your face and get trapped in your makeup, you don’t wash it off and you’re starting the process of breaking down collagen and prematurely aging your skin. Not to mention irritation, dry patches, uneven skin tone, larger pores, the list goes on and on. Take the 15 minutes at night and you’ll thank me for it.

Now onto the review of these two products that I have been using for a few weeks!

Formula 10.0.6 Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser and the Get Your Glow On Skin-Brightening Peel Mask. I stumbled upon these at my local Ulta Beauty store and figured I would give them a try. They were incredibly affordable, around $7-$8 each. I have combination skin, lately it has been more on the oily side (thank you weather).

The Daily Foaming Cleanser has been amazing! I have tried it following the directions (massaging lightly to damp face and rinsing well with warm water) and with my Clinique Sonic System purifying cleansing brush. I was equally pleased with the results of both. Obviously you are getting a deeper clean with the brush, but either way you use it, the product leaves your skin feeling super clean. Another thing that makes me very happy is the scent is nice and not overpowering, a light passion fruit scent with undertones of green tea and chamomile. If you’re worried about it leaving your skin feeling like it’s tight after washing, you won’t have to with this product. It leaves your skin feeling soft without any traces of oil. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants soft glowing skin.

Now onto the Skin Brightening Peel Mask. I have mixed emotions about this one unfortunately. I followed the directions by applying a thin coating over my face and neck and allowing it to dry (recommended time is 10-15 minutes). After about 5 minutes my eyes were watering because the scent was so overpowering. The scent and contents of this mask are papaya and citrus, which any other time I would love the combination. I powered through and after 20 minutes the mask was ready to peel off. I peeled from the bottom up, no pain at all, the mask came up very easily. I feel as if it just removed the dead skin cells but didn’t unclog any pores. Rinsing the face is the next step which I did and pat the skin dry. No redness thankfully and my skin was super soft (this is why I have mixed emotions about this one)! I would recommend this mask for anyone who enjoys a light peel mask (not those harsh ones we have been seeing all over the internet) and likes the smell of papaya and citrus.

Did I really just buy that? — June 26, 2017

Did I really just buy that?

Have you ever looked at a product in a store and wondered if it really did everything that it claimed to do? “OH BUT OF COURSE IT DOES, for $75 and this SUPER CUTE packaging it must”! You get home, rip it out of it’s box and try it out and sit there after and realize you just spend a weeks worth of grocery money on nothing. Yeah, we’ve all been there.

Reading reviews on products is one of the best ways to know if it’s really worth the hype that social media and commercials make it out to be. I love knowing how products worked for people, not just Professional MUAs, but people who just love makeup or wear it occasionally. I generally will not purchase a product with a bad rating or review. But, don’t get me wrong, I have been known to buy products on their launch day because I HAD TO HAVE IT or because I wanted to try products out for myself.

On this blog you will see everything from lipstick to face masks, self tanners, and hair products. The possibilities are endless! Each review I write will be 100% honest. You’ll see some throw back products and you’ll definitely think “why the hell is she reviewing this, did she get the memo that it came out like 8 months ago if not longer”?! But you’ll also see new products, some products you may have never even heard of before, or some really bizarre ones. What can I say? I just love all things beauty!
